General Information about ITU Faculty of Architecture
The Hendese-i Mülkiye Mektebi (School of Civil Engineering) was established in 1884 to train the first civilian architects and engineers. In subsequent years, it was renamed Mühendis-i Ali and later Yüksek Mühendis Mektebi (School of Higher Engineering). In 1944, it was transformed into the Faculty of Architecture within Istanbul Technical University. The Faculty of Architecture consists of 5 departments and 6 programs: Architecture, Architecture (Double Diploma), Urban and Regional Planning, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, and Landscape Architecture.

Academic Resources, Student Affairs and Communication
Istanbul Technical University was granted the title of "Research University" by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in September 2017. Members of the Faculty of Architecture carry their research to national and international platforms while developing university-industry collaborations with research centers, faculties, and laboratories within our university. In 2018, ITU was ranked among the top 100 universities in the field of architecture in both URAP and QS world university rankings.

Our research laboratories, some of which are located within faculties and some within institutes, enable testing, analysis, and experiments in dozens of different subjects. The laboratory infrastructure of Istanbul Technical University is aimed at creating an interface that strengthens the industry-university connection. The Cultural Services Branch Directorate, which has been active since 1987 to strengthen the cultural and social aspects of the university, provides a rich cultural environment where events targeting different tastes and interests are held with an understanding based on student participation. Social and Cultural Activities
Within the university, while courses and trainings are organized in dozens of different sports branches ranging from fencing to pilates throughout the year, sports become an inseparable part of university life through hosted tournaments and competitions. The Ayazağa Campus, which houses 5 of the university's 11 sports facilities, remains the most comprehensive area in the city offering all these sports thanks to basketball, volleyball, badminton, handball, and fencing halls, as well as multi-purpose pilates, yoga, and aerobic areas, fitness rooms for cardio exercises, 5 tennis courts approved by the International Tennis Federation, and an Olympic swimming pool open year-round for training and competitions in swimming & water polo branches.
