Istanbul Technical University was granted the title of "Research University" by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in September 2017. Our university continues its efforts with the goal of maximizing its R&D activities. In this context, members of the Faculty of Architecture carry their research to national and international platforms, while also developing university-industry collaborations through research centers within our university, as well as laboratories operating across the Faculty and its departments. ITU was ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide in the field of architecture in the 2018 URAP and QS World University Rankings. Our goal is to enhance our research volume on national and international levels and to carry out high-quality research that creates value.

The research project titled “A User-Oriented Model Design for Flexible Interior Layouts in Public Housing Units: Urban Renewal Housing” (Project No: 114K279) was supported by TÜBİTAK and conducted within the ITU Department of Interior Architecture.

The Scientific Research Projects unit was established for the purpose of evaluating, accepting, and supporting scientific research project proposals at Istanbul Technical University, as well as conducting, monitoring, and finalizing the services related to these projects.

ITU Project Process Management System (BAPSİS)
BAPSİS is a process management system that enables the efficient and rapid execution of all academic, administrative, and financial processes within BAP in an electronic environment. It allows researchers to submit applications in accordance with the specified schedule and easily perform all transactions regarding their ongoing projects without any time constraints.

ITUNOVA Technology Transfer Office
ITUNOVA Technology Transfer Office presents academic studies and new technologies developed at Istanbul Technical University to the industry, aiming to meet industrial needs and provide value-added contributions to our country's national development. Established to serve as ITU's technology transfer interface, ITUNOVA TTO aims to bring "knowledge" together with the industry and to commercialize it.
ITUNOVA Teknoloji A.Ş. was founded in February 2013 with the goals of facilitating access to scientific and technological knowledge, producing technological data, ensuring the commercialization of generated knowledge, and supporting technology transfer and entrepreneurship. Backed by TÜBİTAK's 1513 Call grant, it began operating as ITUNOVA TTO as of January 2014. Defined as ITU's 'Technology Transfer Office', ITUNOVA Teknoloji A.Ş. is structured specifically as a 'company' under the partnership of ITU, the ITU Foundation, and ITU ARI Teknokent, delivering its services at private-sector standards and speed.
