Building Materials Laboratory

Building Materials Laboratory

The Building Materials Laboratory, located within the Faculty of Architecture, is utilized by undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students, and also hosts revolving fund (commercial) operations. Educational experiments are primarily conducted with undergraduate students in accordance with the curriculum. The infrastructure necessary to carry out experiments for master's and doctoral studies continues to be enhanced.

In addition, research required for production and quality control of building materials is conducted, and requests received within the scope of the revolving fund are fulfilled to the extent allowed by resources. Research topics generally focus on improving existing building materials and investigating the production possibilities of new products based on domestic raw materials.

The experiments routinely performed in the laboratory can be summarized as physical, mechanical, and technological property determination, along with optical analysis. Services such as sample preparation and the production of new materials are also available. The laboratory remains continuously open for routine experiments.

The facility includes mortar preparation, mechanical, chemical, and physical measurement sections. It spans a usage area of 250 m2, divided into sections such as precision measurement and seminar room, mechanical analysis, optical analysis, and material storage.
