General Information About ITU Faculty of Architecture
In 1884, the Hendese-i Mülkiye Mektebi (School of Civil Engineering) was opened to train the first civilian architects and engineers, later renamed Mühendis-i Ali and subsequently Yüksek Mühendis Mektebi. In 1944, it was transformed into the Faculty of Architecture within Istanbul Technical University. The Faculty of Architecture includes 5 departments and 6 programs: Architecture, Architecture (Dual Degree), City and Regional Planning, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, and Landscape Architecture.

Academic Resources, Student Affairs, and Communication
Istanbul Technical University was granted the title of "Research University" by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in September 2017. While members of the Faculty of Architecture carry their research to national and international platforms, they also develop university-industry collaborations through research centers within our university, as well as laboratories operating across the faculty and departments. ITU was ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide in the field of architecture in the 2018 URAP and QS World University Rankings.

Our research laboratories, some of which operate under faculties and some under institutes, allow testing, analysis, and experiments on dozens of different topics. It is aimed that the Istanbul Technical University Laboratory Infrastructure forms an interface that reinforces the industry-university connection. Active since 1987 to strengthen the cultural and social aspects of the university, the Directorate of Cultural Services provides a rich cultural environment where activities for different tastes and interests are carried out with an approach based on student participation. Social and Cultural Activities
While courses and training are organized within the university throughout the year in dozens of different sports branches ranging from fencing to pilates, sports become an integral part of university life thanks to the hosted tournaments and competitions. The Ayazağa Campus, which houses 5 of the 11 sports facilities owned by the university, remains the largest area in the city providing opportunities for all of these sports, featuring basketball, volleyball, badminton, handball, and fencing halls, as well as multi-purpose pilates, yoga, and aerobics areas, fitness centers allowing cardio exercises, 5 tennis courts approved by the International Tennis Federation, and an Olympic swimming pool open year-round for training and competitions in swimming & water polo branches.
